Laura Leinen

Laura Leinen, DVM

Vice President, Talent Management

Dr. Laura Leinen brings well over a decade of clinical experience to her role, having served as both an Associate Veterinarian and the Medical Director of a busy, seven-doctor general practice. Throughout her time in practice, she found particular fulfillment in managing complex medical cases, with a special interest in diagnostic imaging, advanced dentistry, and gastrointestinal surgery.

As her career evolved, Dr. Leinen discovered a deep passion for mentorship, particularly in guiding veterinary student externs and supporting new graduate veterinarians as they transitioned into clinical roles. This passion for nurturing talent and fostering growth ultimately led her to United Veterinary Care, where she played a key role in building and launching the organization’s university programs.

Today, Dr. Leinen serves as Vice President of Talent Management at UVC, where she leads a dedicated team focused on recruiting, learning and development, and academic partnerships. She takes great pride in helping to shape UVC’s employer brand, with the goal of ensuring that the organization is not only perceived as the employer of choice, but that it truly functions as one. Her approach is grounded in a deep respect for the people working in UVC hospitals every day, ensuring that strategic decisions are always made through the lens of the clinicians and teams on the ground. Whether it’s building programs to support career growth or creating systems that reinforce well-being and belonging, her work centers on amplifying the voices of veterinary professionals and helping them thrive.

Outside of work, Dr. Leinen shares her life with her husband Wayne, who also works in the veterinary industry. She knew she had found her match when she learned he served on the board of directors for an animal shelter, a clear sign of his shared commitment to animal welfare. Together, they share their home with a lovable crew of dogs: Bunker, a quirky Chihuahua with a big personality; Blue, a loyal and protective Shepherd mix; and the newest addition, Dawson, a sweet but nervous Golden Retriever who’s helping Laura stretch her skills in dog training and socialization. Their home is full of love, laughter, and a shared devotion to making life better for animals and the people who care for them.
