As the University Liaison for United Veterinary Care, my aim is to offer 3rd- and 4th-year externship opportunities that empower these talented individuals to find answers. “I personally externed at Ocean State Veterinary Services last summer. I got to learn about exotics, emergency care, radiology/ultrasound, and special surgeries. OSVS was the busiest hospital I have ever been to, and there was so much to learn everywhere you turned. I wandered into the internal med suite while they were doing an endoscopy, and they let me press the button to grab the hair ties that the cat ate. I know it sounds silly, but that was so much fun. I was also able to do subcutaneous sutures for surgeries. I got to do physical exams on all exotics, too.”
